Ayurveda, the science of life has its roots in Vedas and considered by many that Ayurveda is an Upanga of Atharvan veda. As you all know that it is the most comprehensive and scientific traditional medical systems of India. There is a growing trend towards Ayurveda and many people of India and abroad are attracted towards Ayurveda due to its safe and effective remedies.

Even before the establishment of TTD Board, When the Mahanth Prayag dasji was the Vicharana kartha of Tirumala temple, under his supervision there was an Ayurveda patasala established and run from 1900 to 1934, which was closed due to unknown reasons. After 50 years of gap, by the constant efforts of local people T.T.Devasthanams being a spiritual organization has an objective of protecting and propagating Vedic sciences, S.V.Ayurvedic College was established in the year 1983 to impart Ayurvedic traditional medical training to the qualified students on merit basis (EAMCET) and also to render free Ayurvedic medical services to the needy and poor. The first batch students were passed from the institute on 1988, so far 26 batches of students were passed out and many of them are working in different establishments all over India and occupying different lead positions in Government and private organizations.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams is a conglomeration of temples, brought under the First Schedule 2 of the Act 30 of 1987. The Board of Trustees is constituted by members appointed by the government.The Executive Officer is the chief executive of TTD. He is assisted by two Joint Executive Officers, Chief Vigilance and Security Officer, Conservator of Forests, Financial Advisor & Chief Accounts Officer, and Chief Engineer. Besides, there are officials to look after the different branches of administration.TTD maintains 12 temples and their sub-shrines, and employs about 14,000 persons.TTD has dedicated itself to serving pilgrims who visit Tirumala and Tirupati. It provides facilities to make their pilgrimage a unique and rewarding spiritual experience. It also works towards preserving the serenity and sanctity of the sacred Tirumala-Tirupati area. TTD is ever-conscious of the social, economic, religious and environmental needs of the people, especially the needy. It undertakes several activities and has initiated different schemes in these areas.

TTD maintains various Educational institutes to improve the Traditional Indian System of Arts and Science like Ayurveda, Vedic literature, Classical music and dance etc.Sri Venkateswara Ayurvedic College is also a part of TTD which promotes Indian System of Medicine – Ayurveda.
