Dr. Purushothaman Namboothiri, BAMS, MS (Ay) Shalya Tantram, is a seasoned practitioner specializing in General Ayurveda and Shalya Tantram (Surgery & Orthopedics). His expertise lies in treating anorectal conditions and orthopedic ailments such as piles, fistula, fissure, and back pain. Dr. Namboothiri performs procedures like Kshara karma, Agni karma, and other para-surgical interventions.

As the Medical Superintendent and Head of the Department & Professor of Shalya Tantram at Ashtamgam Ayurveda Vidyapeedham, Dr. Namboothiri has a distinguished academic background. He obtained his BAMS degree from Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Ayurveda Medical College (SCSVMV, Deemed University) and completed his MS in Ayurveda, Shalya Tantram from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.

Dr. Namboothiri has actively contributed to research, collaborating on a clinical study titled ‘Effects of the multidimensional approach of Ayurveda on Vata Vyadhi’ with esteemed institutions such as the Foundation for Revitalization of Local Health Traditions, Bangalore, India, Ayurvedic Point, Italy, and Clinical Psychology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Milan, Italy. His academic prowess is evident from his publications in numerous international and national journals indexed in PubMed, covering topics like parikarthika (Fissure-in-ano), arshas (hemorrhoids), Sastras used in Salyatantra, Manas, and Quality of life
