MANANTHAVADY

1. Kuruva Dweep

Kuruva Dweep is a 950-acre protected river delta on the Kabani river in the Wayanad district. This island of the dense and evergreen forest is uninhabited and hence a home to rare kinds of flora and fauna, uncommon species of birds, orchids and herbs mainly

The Pazhassi Tomb is where thousands regularly pay homage to the famous Lion of Kerala, Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja. The tomb was constructed in the place where his body was cremated.The museum also contains Pazhassi Raja’s sword and other information about the cultural history of Kerala.

It is one of the most ancient temples in Kerala. It is well believed that here the prathishta of lord Vishnu was performed by lord Brahma. Thirunelly temple draws pilgrims from all over, primarily for ancestral rites.

1. En Ooru Tribal Village

Kerala’s first tribal heritage village is located on the hillock slope at Pookode. Here you experience tribal culture and lifestyle with a tribal market, amphitheatre, tribal huts,heritage pathway etc.

Lakkidi is a beautiful hill town that is blessed with panoramic locations and viewpoints and is popularly known as ‘the gateway of Wayanad’.Lakkidi viewpoint offers an awesome view of the surrounding cliffs and valleys.

3. Chain Tree

Chain tree is a Ficus tree with a massive steel chain hanging on it, and is along the national highway near the Wayanad Ghat Pass at Lakkidi, in the district of Wayanad. This is a quick stop for many travellers from Kozhikkode to Wayanad.

KALPETTA

1. Banasura Sagar Dam

The Banasura Sagar Dam is located in the western ghats, which is the largest earthen dam in India and the second largest in Asia. It is an ideal starting point for hikes into the surrounding scenic mountains and an important tourist attraction. The dam is at the foot of the Banasura hills.

2. Karlad Lake

Karlad lake is located in Thariode, which is around 16km away from Kalpetta. This is the second largest freshwater lake in the state.The camp would provide modern adventure tourism facilities to visitors. Facilities for various adventure sports activities such as zipline, kayaking, climbing on rock panel,paintball,archery and zorbing have been set in the camp.

The name ‘Edakkal literally means ‘a stone in between’; and this describes how the caves are formed by a heavy boulder straddling a fissure in the rock. The inside of the cave is on two levels.Light enters the cave through a big gap at the right-hand corner of the roof where the boulder does not touch the facing wall.

SULTHAN BATHERI

1. Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary

Muthanga is a rainforest reserve, contiguous with the protest ed ares network of the Nagarhole National Park and Bandipur Tiger Reserve.The place is rich with fauna and flora.Elephants roam freely here and tigers are sited occasionally.Elephant rides are arranged by the forest department.
