Suryatapi Process
• Raw Shilajit stone is washed and dissolved in cow’s milk.
• Following that, the mixture is filtered using a double layer of muslin cloth in a different stainless steel container.
• Placed in direct sunlight, a light brown cream is formed on the top, at which point the cream is repeatedly removed from the vessel.
• The filtration procedure is repeated repeatedly to get the Shilajit resin until the resin completely vanishes from the solution, after which the resin is regularly removed from the vessel.
• This Process is continued for months.
• Finally, each batch of Shilajit resin is placed back outside in the sun to allow the water content to evaporate.
• The Process usually takes about 3 months in summer season and about 4 months in winter season.
Test for Purity of Suryatapi Shilajit
There are various methods to test the authenticity of Shilajit, some of which are very simple and can be easily conducted at home by using basic things. Some of them are listed below:
Pliability test: It is one of the simplest ways to determine if the Shilajit is genuine or not. If the temperature is hot outside, it softens and becomes sticky and gummy. Alternatively, if it’s cold, it will harden considerably and splinter like a crystal. This is because Shilajit’s texture alters in reaction to variations in the outside environment.
Solubility test: Another factor to assess the authenticity of Shilajit is its solubility. Put a small chunk of Shilajit in water or warm milk. Shilajit will readily dissolve in water or milk without leaving any traces behind, turning the liquid dark brown or reddish black. If the Shilajit is not pure, it will leave residues behind, and upon consumption, the liquid would taste sandy.
Alcohol test: Be mindful that unadulterated Shilajit forms small clumps in alcohol rather than dissolving. However, if it dissolves in alcohol, the Shilajit is undoubtedly impure.
Flame test: Flame testing is the most accurate method for determining the quality of Shilajit. Pure Shilajit won’t burn when set on fire. It will bubble up and turn into ashes when heated at higher temperatures, but it will certainly not burn. Although in case Shilajit is not authentic, it will ignite fiercely.
Colour and odour test: Shilajit often has a black tint, yet occasionally it can be white, but very rarely. Moreover, because pure Shilajit is produced from rocks, it has an unpleasant odour.
