The name Nangelil dates back to the legendary ancestral tradition of marma chikitsa in Kerala which created a new dimension in orthopaedic management incorporating modern diagnostic methods with a scientific approach..

The Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) was established by the ‘Kerala University of Health Sciences Act 2010’, for ensuring proper and systematic

instruction, teaching, training and research in Modern Medicine, Homoeopathy and Indian Systems of Medicine including Ayurveda, Siddha, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani and other allied sciences and also to have uniformity in the various academic programmes in medical and allied subjects in the State of Kerala. The University is situated at Thrissur, Kerala.

The University is mandated to affiliate all Colleges and Institutions in Kerala, Imparting professional education in health care. So far 296 professional colleges have been affiliated to the University.


Ayurvedacharya (B.A.M.S.) Degree Course

This course is envisaged by the NCISM and is implementing an all India syllabus and carriculam. The course is designed to generate efficient Ayurveda physicians, surgeons, researchers, manufacturers and teachers and is conducted as per the examination schedule and regulations of the NCISM. NCISM has prescribed the minimum standards norms for the infrastructure facilities and the faculties. The College has fulfilled all the required minimum standards for the course.

Ayurveda Therapist

This is a one year certificate course conducted by The Kerala Government under the control of the Director of Ayurveda Medical Education. 30 students are admitted to the course as and when the Government desires so. Of the 30 seats 15 students are allotted by the Government and 15 students are admitted by the management. The minimum qualification for admission to the course is a pass in SSLC or equivalent examination with 50% marks.

The course is regulated by the norms of the prospectus issued by the DAME and amendment made by him from time to time.
